THE TURNOVER

Image
“Good morning Ashley, why don’t you come in and take a seat?” said Ashley's councillor, Ms. Fallon. “Thank you”, Ashley greeted. Today, Ashley was meeting Ms. Fallon for the first time, on the insistence of her art teacher. “So tell me about yourself, and why you feel so lost”. Hearing Ms. Fallon made me smile to myself. “I am Ashley Robins. I am sixteen and I like art.” Why don’t I make eye contact?   I’m counting the seconds; I’m pacing every breath I take. I’m keeping track of the time I have to be here. I’m counting eternity. “Ashley, I have noticed you have an insane number of tattoos,” Ms. Fallon said cautiously. It’s trendy to be yourself again, but only if everyone else likes “yourself” and only if “yourself” is just like everyone else. The morning was over; the councillor was of no good use. I rushed out of school with a head filled with painful thoughts, thoughts that had been suppressed all this time. I went to my safe space; my access drugs. Drugs help me to...

JET TRAILS

Hullo! This is Anika Bhuta. Today, I wanted to write about something showing the different perspectives on life, and what better place to express them? This article is written taking inspiration from the airport I live near, and the baggage that comes with it. Without further ado, I give you, Jet Trails. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I live near an airport, and to say it is a disturbance would be an understatement. Airplanes fly across any time of the day (or night, for that matter); and bring with them an intrusive noise that is impossible to ignore. Not only the noise, every time one of those flying monstrosities passes overhead, it brings with it a shaking of the very concrete that makes up my apartment complex. This noise is a constant inconvenience that I've dealt with my entire life, but only recently did I discover another perspective on it. One day, as I sat down at my study...

WAR

Image
World Peace is something that almost seems unachievable. 7 billion people on this planet have been fighting constantly since centuries on who was the real creator of this world, but these same people do not realise that it’s just one world, and the fight over its creator has already killed millions over the years and will continue to kill millions of innocent souls over the coming years. Recently two back to back 2 attacks in New York and Denver are an evident proof and a small glimpse of  what may happen in the future if the war over religion continues. Today we present to you a poem which somewhere expresses the feelings of our kids today, and the innocent yet thoughtful question they may ask their parents today or maybe even in the future. World is a family is what our books tell us, But we see war all around us, A war where they fight in the name of God and Allah, But God rests so peacefully, be it in church, mosque or a gurudwara, The elders waste the world resource...

LEADING AN ORDINARY LIFE IS JUST TOO ORDINARY

Image
I was born a leader, I was raised to lead my own life, like a head wolf who leads his pack, A lot of people follow the herd, Be the one who heads the heard, Being ordinary has no fun, so from today onwards let's do extraordinary and be extraordinary, From Gandhi to Martin Luther King Jr. everyone was advised to be normal if they would have been normal; the world would still have been suffering under racism and discrimination, From today onwards, let's pledge to contribute our every bit of extraordinary power for the betterment of the world, As every bit of extraordinary contribution by an extraordinary person is forever remembered by the world as an eminent leader. Let’s be a leader who is remembered by the world, Let us all be superheroes without capes, but with our extraordinary actions.
